So this first HD photo shows the statue called Le Printemps, which in English translates to The Spring, and as you can tell, this is located on the balustrade of the roof line of the Aile Colbert by one of the Chimneys on the former Palais du Louvre, and this is located second from the left hand side as you are looking at the wing from the Cour Napoleon.
Now this particular statue of The Spring on the Musee du Louvre was produced by the prolific French sculptor Jean Auguste Barre who was the son of an engraver born in Paris in 1811, and initially studied under his father before being admitted to the Ecole des Beaux Arts.
During the Empire, he was the official portrait sculptor of Napoleon III generating at least 20 different busts of famous people, plus many of this emperor himself that can now be found in museums and at the Chateau de Versailles.
Yet Jean Auguste Barre also received several commissions for statues on the Louvre Museum including this one of Le Printemps and others for famous tourist attractions in Paris such as the Fontaine Saint-Michel prior to passing away in 1896.
