This first HD photo shows the statue called La Guerre, which in English translates to The War, and this was designed as an allegory, and it was produced by Edme Jean Louis Sornet, who was born in 1802 and became a French sculptor and engraver, passed away in 1876.
Now this particular statue of La Guerre, or The War, can be found on the top level balustrade of the Aile en retour Mollien, and this can be seen in the left hand corner from the Cour du Carrousel courtyard, even though this wing of the former Palais du Louvre is classed as within the Cour Napoleon.
And as well as this particular stone allegorical statue, Edme Jean Louis Sornet was also commissioned for another on The Louvre during the restoration works in the 1850s and 1860s when the former royal palace was being adorned with numerous decorative elements including statues, sculptures and reliefs.
