This first HD photo shows a statue called L'Etude, which in English translates to The Study, yet it can also be referred to as The Student, and produced in stone in 1855 for the former Palais du Louvre, you can see the young child holding a tablet as though he is reading.
Now this Study statue was produced by Joseph Alexandre Renoir who was born in 1811 and studied under James Pradier and Jules Ramey to become a sculptor, first exhibiting works at the 1847 Salon for French artists, yet unfortunately he had a short career, as Josephe Alexandre Renoir passed away in 1855, just shortly after finishing this stone statue.
But this photograph shows L'Etude positioned at the top of the Aile Mollien, and when you are looking at this wing of the Louvre Museum from the Cour Napoleon courtyard, as you can tell, this is positioned to the far left hand side, which is right next to the Pavillon Denon.
