This first HD photo shows the allegorical statue called La Force, which was originally sculpted by Antoine Louis Barye after receiving a commission for this statue group to adorn the Pavillon Denon wing of the former Palais du Louvre that you can still admire today on the facade of what is now called the Musee du Louvre.
Now this particular statue of The Force is a marble cast of the original, which was put on the left hand side of the Monument to Barye for its inauguration back in 1894, yet the original plaster model is held within another famous tourist attraction in Paris called the Musee d'Orsay.
In this image you can see the back of the Barye Monument with The Force statue group to the right hand side, along with another similar statue called Order to the left, and fortunately, these were spared from destruction when the city was under occupation during World War II, even though the bronze statue on top was melted down, but eventually replaced with a cast.
But this close up photograph shows a man seated with a young boy standing, and being the fact that Antoine Louis Barye was a well respected French sculptor of animals, it is the lion that provides the allegory aspect for The Force statue group, even though originally the composition was called Force Protecting Work.
And in this last photo you can see the entire Monument to Barye that was designed by Laurent Marqueste, and this, including La Force statue can be found within Square Barye at the tip of the Ile Saint Louis island located in the River Seine in the 4th Arrondissement of Paris.
