La Puissance translates in English to The Power, and this is an allegorical statue, which was produced in stone by Antoine Laurent Dantan, who was born in Saint Cloud in 1798, yet he was known as Danton the Elder to distinguish himself from his younger brother who was also a French sculptor.
And in fact, they both studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris and were both students of Francois Joseph Bosio, yet Antoine Laurent Dantan was better suited to monumental statues and sculptures like this one of The Power, also winning the Prix de Rome in 1828, whereas his brother produced works on a smaller scale.
So this next HD photo shows the location of La Puissance on the upper level of the Pavillon Mollien wing of the former Palais du Louvre, and positioned in the corner by the roof, this can be viewed from the Cour Napoleon and the Cour du Carrousel courtyards.
