This first HD photo shows the statue called Elegie, which is also spelt Elegy, and as you can tell it is located in a niche on the Aile de Marsan wing of the former Palais du Louvre, which is the famous tourist attraction now called the Musee du Louvre.
And when you are looking at this wing from the courtyard called the Cour du Carrousel you will be able to see this limestone statue on the second level of statues positioned fifth from the right hand side.
Now this particular statue of Elegy was produced by Jospeh Michel Caille who was born in Nantes, within the Pays de la Loire region of France in 1836 and became a French sculptor working in an academic style, and he sculpted this in 1874.
Yet another of his works called Cain can be found within the Ranelagh Garden in Paris, however, his career was very short lived as he passed away in Nantes in 1881 at the young age of only 45.
