This first HD photo shows the allegorical statue called La Force, and this can be seen on the top level by the roof of the Rotonde de Beavais, which is a wing of the former Palais du Louvre, and it is positioned as the second statue from the left hand side facing on to the Cour Napoleon courtyard.
Now this next close up image shows the detailing that went into this statue of The Force, which is sometimes also referred to as The Strength and this was produced by Georges Clere, who was born in Nancy in 1819 and initially started studying medicine.
Yet with a passion for art, he also followed a course at the School of Fine Arts in Dijon, before going to Paris and entering the studios of the famous French sculptor Francois Rude, and becoming well recognised, Goerges Clere received several commissions for works on The Louvre and other historical buildings in Paris, winning medals along the way.
