We were in the 7th Arrondissement of Paris, but still at the Pont Alexandre III, when we took these high definition photos showing a statue called Lion Conduit Par un Enfant, which was sculpted by Jules Dalou.

Called Lion Conduit Par un Enfant, this translates in English to Lion Led by a Child, which is a very apt title as you can see from this HD photo that we took as though we were looking behind it, and made of stone, this was inaugurated on the Pont Alexandre III at the time of the 1900 World Fair in Paris.
So this lion statue was sculpted by Aime Jules Dalou, who is normally just known as Jules Dalou, and born in Paris he was a pupil of Jean Baptiste Carpeaux, yet through his political beliefs, it hindered his career and he even went into exile in England for some years after the Paris Commune.
However, upon his return to Paris he still received different public commissions, which included this particular lion statue, along with the other lion on the same side of the bridge, plus there are other monumental statue groups in other places around the city such as within the popular tourist attraction of the Luxembourg gardens.
Now this last image again shows the Lion Led by a Child stone statue next to one of the 17 metre high columns of the Pont Alexandre III that are also adorned with statues, and this is a view looking from the south easterly side to the south westerly side of the bridge, in the 7th Arrondissement.
