Now this first HD photo shows the statue of l'Hiver, which in English translates to The Winter, and as you can tell, this is located by a chimney on the roofline of the Musee du Louvre on a wing called the Aile Turgot, and when you are looking at the facade, this is the second statue from the left hand side.
And this was first produced in plaster in 1855, which is now held at the Musee d'Orsay in Paris, yet the final stone version was put in place in 1857, and is an allegorical statue with a genie representing winter.
So this next photograph is a close up showing the detailing that went into producing the Hiver statue, which was by the French sculptor Isidore Romain Boitel, who was born in 1812. Yet there are very few details available about this artist, and even the year of his death varies depending upon what source you read, ranging from 1860 through to 1863.
