This first image shows the statue called La Science, and this can be found on the pediment by the roof line of the Colbert Pavilion, and as you look at the facade of the former Palais du Louvre from the courtyard, you will find this is the left hand side allegorical statue.
And this next HD photo shows a close up of the statue, which was produced by Louis Valentin Robert, who was born in June 1821, but he was named after his older brother with the same name who unfortunately had died as a baby a couple of years earlier.
So, when he became a French sculptor, he decided to call himself Louis Elias Robert, and he is sometimes just known as Elias Robert, and as well as being commissioned for this statue of The Science, he also produced statues for the Gare d'Austerlitz and one for the Fontaine Saint Michel, with others such as Phryne being found in different museums throughout France.
