This first HD photo shows the statue of Diana, which is located in an ornate niche on the facade of the Grande Galerie Orientale wing of the former Palais du Louvre in the 1st Arrondissement of Paris.
And this statue was produced by Louis Adolphe Eudes, who was born in 1818, yet his debut at a Salon for French artists was not until 1847, but he then received a few different commissions for decorations to adorn The Louvre, and produced many different statues and sculptures that can now be found in different museums throughout France.
Now this statue was sculpted to represent Diana, who is the Goddess of the Hunt in Roman mythology and is associated with animals especially wild animals, yet she is also referred to as the Goddess of fertility and childbirth.
So like you can see in this image, she is often portrayed with a hunting dog or dogs, which is what you can see by her side, alternatively she will be seen with wild animals such as deer or with a hunting bow and is normally wearing hunting boots, often with a short tunic.
