So this first HD photo shows the statue of La Prudence, which is located on the Pavillon de Flore, and this is positioned on the first level on the north side of the pavilion, and was executed for the new embellishments that were made to the wing of the Palais du Louvre in 1876.
And this allegorical statue of Prudence with its fine detailing was produced by Jules Isadore Lafrance, who was born in Paris on 16th December 1841, and becoming a French sculptor he won the Prix de Rome, yet was taken ill while studying there and returned to Paris.
However, he was provided with a few different public commissions including some for The Louvre, even being awarded the Legion of Honour in 1878, yet unfortunately died of a fever after surgery, when he was only 40 years of age.
