This first HD photo shows The Etruscan Warrior located in a niche on the first level of the Aile de Flore wing of the former Palais du Louvre, now known as the Musee du Louvre, and this can be seen while looking at the facade from the Cour du Carrousel.
But called Le Guerrier Etrusque in French, this is an allegory statue depicting a warrior from an ancient civilisation that in modern times has been called the Etruscan civilisation, and they originated from a part of Italy, which encompasses Tuscany.
And this particular allegory statue was sculpted by Theodore Charles Gruyere, who was born and died in Paris, and this French sculptor also produced another warrior statue for the same facade.
Yet Theodore Charles Gruyere also produced numerous religious statues for churches, along with portrait statues for personalities, plus much more during his career, and he was awarded a Knight of the Legion of Honour in 1866, the same year that Le Guerrier Etrusque was put in place.
