This first HD photo shows the statue of Ph de Commine, which is located on the Aile Henri IV wing of the former Palais du Louvre, and as you are looking at the facade from the Cour Napoleon you can see this on the first level balustrade fourth from the right hand side.
Now this was produced by Eugene Louis Lequesne, sometimes written as Le Quesne, who was born in February 1815 in Paris and becoming a French sculptor, he won the Prix de Rome in 1844, studying in Rome for a few years before returning to the capital city of France, which is where he passed away in the June of 1887.
And in this last close up you can see the name plaque at the base of the statue dedicated to Philippe de Commine, which is also sometimes spelt de Commines or de Commynes, and born in 1447, he became a writer and diplomat.
Also, Philippe is regarded as a major primary source for 15th century European history due to his analyses of the political scene written in an unusual, yet modern and philosophical way for the time, which is why he is one of the famous men depicted on the facades of The Louvre.
