Now this particular statue group called Guerre is located on the far corner at the top of the Aile Henri II building of the former Palais du Louvre next to the return where the Rotonde d'Apollon is located, which you can see from the Cour Napoleon courtyard.
So as you can tell from this image, the gentleman, or warrior, is looking to his left, which in the direction of the facade of the Aile Henri II and further along to the Aile Henri IV, which is where you will find the other allegorical statue produced by the same artist Auguste Preault.
But in this close up photo of the warrior on the allegory statue depicting War, you can see the intricate detailing that went into this sculpture with him holding a spear, carrying a sword and standing next to a shield, with an eagle above.
And as we mentioned earlier, this was produced by the French sculptor known as Auguste Preault, although he was actually born within the Marais area of Paris in 1809 with the name of Antoine-Augustin Preault, and even though he produced statues, he is most well known for his execution of several medallions, which can be found on tombs and monuments as well as within collections of the Louvre Museum.
