In this first photo you can see one of the allegorical statues called l'Afrique, that translates to Africa in English, which is rather logical considering it is a young African child standing with a lion, and this was sculpted by Louis Rochet in 1857 and can be found on the far right hand side of the Aile Turgot on the top level by the roof line.
Now the French sculptor Louis Rochet who was born and died in Paris, produced numerous different statues including l'Afrique you can see in this image, and even studied at the French Academy in Rome after winning the Prix de Rome, yet his most famous work is probably the statue of Charlemagne that he produced with his son who was also a sculptor.
