Now this first HD photo shows the statue of Moliere, which is located on the first level balustrade of the Aile en Retour Turgot virtually in the middle, and this was produced in 1857 by the sculptor Bernard Gabriel Seurre, who was known as Seurre the elder, due to the fact that he had a younger brother who was also a French sculptor.
Now both of these sculptors worked on statues on the facade of the Palais du Louvre, yet it was Bernard who produced this statue of Moliere along with friezes on the famous monument in Paris called the Arc de Triumphe, and Moliere was actually a stage name for the French playwright.
And in this last image where you can see the plaque on the base of the statue, you will find that this was actually a stage name, as Moliere was born in the January of 1622 with the name Jean Baptiste Poquelin, and becoming an actor and playwright he performed at the former Louvre Palace, even receiving a royal pension, and he is classified as one of the greatest masters of comedy in Western literature, dying just hours after finishing a performance.
