In this first photograph you can see a statue that was produced in marble and was named by the artist Le Silence, yet it is sometimes known as Le Gaulois, which translates in English to The Gallic.
Now this statue was actually produced by the very little known French artist Guillaume Berthelot who was born in the 1580s, yet he had an impressive career working for Cardinal Richelieu along with Kings and Queens of France, plus he spent time in Rome and worked on the Sistine Chapel.
And in this HD photo you can see the side and part of the back of this marble statue known as Le Silence or Le Gaulois, which was produced in the early part of the 1600s, although there appears to be no exact records relating specifically to the year it was sculpted.
Because we could not get close to this statue, we zoomed in to take this photo of Le Silence by Berthelot, to try and show more detail of the facial features, and even right down to the toes showing.
Now this marble statue once stood within flowerbeds to the east of the Palais du Luxembourg right up until the 1970s when the area was changed, and it was only put back in place in 1993 for people to once again admire, yet as you can tell from this photo you can only see the statue from a distance.
