With this first photo you can see the large bronze Standing Figure sculpture positioned in a parterre that is close to one of the garden restaurants within the Jardin des Tuileries, and this sculpture was first put in place in 2010 through a grant from the American Friends of the Louvre.
Now this sculpture was produced by the renowned artist Willem de Kooning, who was Dutch, but emigrated to America and became a US citizen, and based upon a small pocket sized macquette that he had produced, initially in clay, the statue you can see in this image was enlarged to approximately 3 metres in height and then cast in bronze.
We took this photo of the Standing Figure by Willem de Kooning from a different angle, in order to try and show the type of style he used for this sculpture which is referred to as Abstract Expressionism, and this was completed in 1983 well before being placed within the Tuileries Gardens.
