Photos of the Virgin with Child statue on Notre Dame in Paris - Page 193
This time while in the 4th Arrondissement of Paris we were visiting Notre Dame Cathedral on the Ile de la Cite, and as you will see from these high definition photographs, not only does this cathedral have some remarkable architecture, but is also home to many different and famous statues and sculptures.

Now with these photographs we were looking at one of the rose windows with its statues, and this particular window is located on the Western facade of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, positioned in the centre above the Gallery of Kings, which is above the central portal called the Portal of the Last Judgement.
Next we have a close up photo of the three statues on Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral, which are sitting on pedestals in order to make them stand above the stone balustrade, and these sculptures depict the Virgin with Child as the centre statue with two angels each side, and with its base the Virgin with Child statue is over 4 metres in height.
Also as you can see, these three stone statues are perfectly aligned with the rose window on the west facade of Notre Dame Cathedral that is near the Gallery of the Virgin, and the two outside statues are designed to represent guardian angels looking over the Virgin Mary with her child, Jesus.
Now, to try and give you some kind of perspective on the size of these statues, the Rose Window behind them is almost 10 metres in diameter, which by the way was created around 1225, and when looking up at this part of Notre Dame, the window seems to form a halo for the statues.
