Photographs of the Genie de la Liberte statue in Bastille square Paris - Page 147
When we were visiting Bastille square in the 11th Arrondissement of Paris, we took these high definition photos showing the gilded golden statue called Genie de la Liberte, which sits on top of the Colonne de Juillet in the middle of Place de la Bastille.

This close up photo we took shows the gilded dome with its golden statue positioned on top of the July Column, which was produced by the sculptor Augustin-Alexandre Dumont, and called the Genie de la Liberte, which translates to Spirit of Freedom in English, this, along with the column itself was inaugurated in 1840.
Here you can see a photo we took showing the whole column located at the Place de la Bastille, which is known as the Colonne de Juillet, that translates to July Column in English, and this monument with its gilded statue on top was constructed during the reign of King Louis Philippe in recognition of the French Revolution and the Revolt of 1830.
As you can see from this photograph, the Genie de la Liberte statue in Paris is perched high up on top of the Colonne de Juillet and is standing on one foot holding broken chains in one hand and a torch in the other to symbolise freedom, and you will find this statue in the large square known as the Place de la Bastille in the 11th Arrondissement of Paris, which is served by the Metro lines 1, 5 and 8.
