Also while we were visiting the Jardin des Plantes in Paris we took these HD Photos showing the woolly mammoth sculpture that is located by the Galeries d'Anatomie Comparee et de Paleontologie, which is a part of the Natural History Museum within the botanical gardens.

Now according to a book written about mammoths, this woolly mammoth sculpture that you can see in this photo was based upon actual fossil material in order to reconstruct this statue of the extinct mammal as close as possible to what it would have been like.
Also, as you can see from these high definition photographs, this sculpture of a woolly mammoth has been produced with as much fine detail as possible, but unfortunately, we did not see a plaque or any information to state who produced this sculpture in Paris or when it was first put in place.
You will find this woolly mammoth statue in the 5th Arrondissement of Paris inside Jardin des Plantes next to the South East entrance along Rue Buffon, which is only a short walk away from the Gare d'Austerlitz train station that services RER C trains along with metro lines 5 and 10, plus you can also find one of the Velib bicycle stations next to this entrance.
