This first HD photo shows two dogs on either side of a globe with a crown resting on top, and known as just a Group of Animals, this is positioned above a bas relief on the Aile de Flore and when you are in the courtyard of the former Palais du Louvre called the Cour du Carrousel, you can see this is located to the left hand side of the second window on the third level.
You will find that this statue group was sculpted by Emmanuel Fremiet who was born in Paris in 1824 and became a recognised animalier, which is a sculptor of animals, with his most well known work being the gilded equestrian statue of Joan of Arc.
And although he produced numerous works for Napoleon including a sculpture of his hounds, his main focus was wild animals, and works by Emannuel Fremiet can be seen at lots of tourist attractions in Paris including the Musee d'Orsay and the Jardin des Plantes, and he even took over from Antoine Louis Barye as the professor of drawing at the Natural History Museum in 1892, which is also located within the historical former royal garden.
