Located on the facade of the Aile de Rohan-Rivoli wing of the famous Louvre Museum, within an alcove you can see a statue of Lamoriciere, which was put in place facing the Rue de Rivoli in 1921.
Now this particular statue was sculpted by Rene Albert Baucour, and unfortunately we have been able to find out very little about this sculptor, although it appears he was born in 1878 and passed away in 1948.
This particular HD photo shows a close up of the plaque and base of the statue that states the surname Lamoriciere, and born in Nantes in 1806 with a full name of Christophe Leon Louis Juchault de Lamoriciere, he entered service in the Engineers as a sub-lieutenant in 1828.
Serving in the Algerian campaigns, Lamoriciere was promoted to captain and then to a general, even temporarily acting as the governor-general of Algeria and after retiring, spent the remainder of his life back in France, passing away in 1965 and being buried in Nantes Cathedral.
So you will find the statue of Lamoriciere by Rene Albert Baucour positioned on the second level of the Aile de Rohan-Rivoli, which is close to the entrance to museums of Les Arts Decoratives, located within this wing of The Louvre.
