There are a total of eight statues on the facade of the Palais Royal that faces into the garden, and this first HD photo shows the statue called La Prudence, which is one of four that were sculpted between the years of 1767 and 1769 by Augustin Pajou, who also worked on the facade facing the Place du Palais Royal.
Now this close up photograph shows the detailing that went into producing The Prudence statue depicting a young woman holding a mirror in her right hand, and born in 1730, Augustin Pajou won the Prix de Rome at the young age of eighteen, which meant he could further his career studying at the French Academy in Italy, and upon his return received numerous commissions for statues busts and sculptures.
So the above image shows the statue of La Prudence located on the balustrade of the Palais Royal facade, which is now home to the Conseil d'Etat, and this translates in English to Council of the State, yet this is just one many works produced by Augustin Pajou who was recognised as one of the official sculptors for the king, with many now being held within the Chateau de Versailles and the Louvre Museum.
However, here you can see the entire left hand side section of the Palais Royal facade that faces onto the Cour d'Honneur, which is the main inner courtyard where we were standing at the time, and you can see the Prudence statue positioned on the third level, second from the left hand side.
