This first HD photo shows a sculpture called La Verite et Histoire, which in English translates to Truth and History that was produced for a facade of the former Palais du Louvre called the Pavillon Richelieu.
Now this was produced by Charles Auguste Lebourg who was born in Nantes in 1829, and although he initially studied to become a French sculptor in his home town, he then went to Paris to further his studies and career under Francois Rude, gaining much recognition and numerous commissions including this one of Truth and History for The Louvre.
However, Charles Auguste Lebourg is most well known for his sculptural designs for the Wallace Fountains that are drinking water fountains found throughout Paris, numerous other cities in France and other parts of the world such as Brazil, Canada, Israel, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and the USA.
This next photograph shows the location of La Verite et Histoire on the Richelieu Pavilion, on what is known as a tympanum above the arcade passage that goes to the Rue de Rivoli, and you can see this wing of the Louvre Museum from the courtyard called the Cour Napoleon.
