This first HD photo shows a statue group just called Groupe d'animaux, which in English translates to Group of animals, and put in place on the Aile de Flore facade of the former Palais du Louvre back in 1866, this one of four different sets that can be found on this wing.
Here you can see a close up photograph showing the detailing that went into producing just this small feature, which was by Emmanuel Fremiet, who was born in 1824 and studied to become a French sculptor, focusing on animals, yet also produced numerous Napoleonic works, but his most famous is the equestrian statue of Joan of Arc located at the Place des Pyramides in Paris.
However, other statues by Emmanuel Fremiet can be found at different tourist attractions in Paris such as the Pont Alexandre III, Musee d'Orsay, others for The Louvre, Fontaine des Quatre Parties du Monde and one in the Jardin des Plantes where he also became a professor of animal drawing for the Natural History Museum later on in his career.
Yet this photo shows the location of the Group of Animals positioned above a bas relief below a pediment on the third level of the Aile de Flore, and when you are in the courtyard of the Louvre Museum called the Cour du Carrousel looking at this wing, you will see this to the right hand side of the seventh window, or counting the other way, it is third from the right hand side.
