Known in English as Joan of Arc, this first photo shows a statue depicting Sainte Jeanne d'Arc, and becoming a renowned figure in France, who was wounded just behind the mound of Saint-Roch by this church during the Siege of Paris in 1429, this is why she is recognised within the Eglise Saint-Roch.
However she was executed in 1431 by being burnt at the stake, but later after her execution, trials found her to be innocent and becoming a major figure in the history of the Hundred Years War, she was declared a martyr.
Joan of Arc became a major symbol in Catholic religion, which eventually led to her Beatification on 19th April 1909 in Rome, and then she was Canonised as a saint by Pope Benedict XV on the 16th May 1920, and for this occasion a temporary type of structure depicting the old Porte Saint-Honore was constructed in front of the Eglise Saint-Roch to celebrate this occasion for Sainte Jeanne d'Arc who is classed as one of the Patron Saints of Paris, with her feast day being 30th May.
Yet this photograph shows the tourist information board that was written out in English as well as French, to provide more information about the Saint Francis of Sales Chapel and the works of art contained within it, but as you can see, unfortunately it did not state who produced this particular statue of Joan of Arc.
Although this Joan of Arc statue can be found on the left hand side of the Eglise Saint-Roch in the deambulatory area of this Roman Catholic church within the Chapelle Saint Francois de Sales, which is as you have entered from the Rue Saint-Honore.
