The Velib is a bike rental system, which was only set up a few years ago, yet has become a very popular means of transport that is used by locals daily and also by tourists who want to enjoy Paris city life at their own pace, and in fact the Velib in Paris is the largest bike sharing concept in the world, with a station virtually every 300 metres and over 20,000 bikes available, that you can just turn up at, register at a station and go on your route then drop if off somewhere else, plus the first 30 minutes of your trip are complete free!
