Even though a part of Paris city life now evolves around tourism due to the numerous historical monuments and tourist attractions you can discover, yet many people forget that most cities first started out in their locations because they were close to rivers, which were necessary for transportation of goods, and although not such a common sight these days, the River Seine is still used by cargo barges like the one in this photo that's heading towards the famous Gothic Church Notre Dame.
