While we were on the Pont de Bir-hakeim bridge looking down the River Seine at the houseboats towards the Pont d'Iena bridge, you can also see the Voie Georges Pomidou road, or expressway as it is known, which travels along side and was constructed during the 1960s much to the dismay of many who want it permanently closed, whereas others argue that it keep traffic moving through the city.
