High definition photos of Parc de la Villette in Paris France
The Parc de la Villette located in the 19th Arrondissement is one of the largest parks in Paris that covers over 55 hectares with some of the largest green areas in the capital city, but you can also find many different cultural places to visit like theatres, museums and clubs, through to the Geode which is the most visited cinema in France.

Unusual and modern structures can be seen all over Paris, just like the pedestrian only bridge going over the Canal de l'Ourcq that is called Pont Galerie de l'Ourcq, and the red construction with its raised walkway you can see is known as a folie, which is called the Interchange Folly, that are all a part of the Parc de la Villette, first designed in the 1980s.

Here you can see the Cite des Sciences et de l'Industrie science museum, which is the largest science museum in Europe located within the Parc de la Villette, and it was designed to incorporate the three major elements of water, light and vegetation, as you can obviously tell from this panoramic image that provides a good feel of all three surrounding this impressive building.

View of Canal Folly N5 with raised pedestrian walkway passing in front
There are numerous red structures known as folies, spelt follies in English, that have been designed within the Parc de Villette, and this is just one of 26 of these that we took a photograph of called Canal Folly N5, while walking over the Canal de l'Ourcq.
And although they were originally meant to be ornamental, many now have certain uses as well, just like this one that has become home to a non profit organisation called Format'Kine providing educational courses for massage and physiotherapy techniques.

Canauxrama is one of the companies that provide many different canal cruises in Paris, plus during the warmer months they operate a shuttle service along the Canal de l'Ourcq from the Port de la Villette up to the Parc de la Villette, which is where we were when we took this photograph.

Panoramic photo of the Grande Halle which was an old slaughterhouse located inside Parc de la Villette
This particular panoramic photograph shows the old slaughterhouse called the Grande Halle in Parc de la Villette, which was originally constructed between 1865 and 1867 by Jules Merindol, and saved from destruction after the cattle market had closed and the cultural park was developed, it is now an exhibition venue, which is also now classified as an historical building.

There are around ten different themed gardens that you can discover within the Parc de la Villette, and this is a photo we took looking down on one of these from a folly with its different sculptures and vegetation, which is called the Acrobatic Garden and this can be found close to the Canal de l'Ourcq and the Zenith.
The tourist information centre inside Parc de la Villette
Located at one end of the Parc de la Villette close to the Cite de la Music museum and the Grande Halle you will find the red building you can see in this photograph, which is the tourist information centre and ticket office for the numerous tourist attractions within this popular cultural park in Paris.

The Geode is referred to as a geodesic structure, hence its name, and we took this HD photo looking at the polished stainless steel outer of the sphere, which is actually the most attended cinema in France with one of the largest movie screens in the world, which again is located within the Parc de la Villette in Paris.

In this image you can see a walkway in the Parc de la Villette called the Galerie de la Villette with its unusual wave canopy and international flags, which we took looking in a north westerly direction, and this goes far further than what we could capture in this picture, but to the left of the photo you can also see the front of the Theatre Paris Villette.

Close up photo of the water fountain called Fontaine aux Lions de Nubie at Parc de la Villette
This is a close up photo we took showing some of the sculptures on the large fountain called the Fontaine aux Lions de Nubie, which is in the Parc de la Villette and was originally used to water the cattle before they went to market, and this is close to the Music museum, information centre and Grand Halle, plus it is also located right near the entrance to one of the car parks.

This is a wide angle photo we took of the vineyard themed garden within the Parc de la Villette, which is called the Jardin de la Treille, and designed by Gilles Vexlard back in 1988, this is just one of several themed gardens within the park, some of which even have special effect lighting at night.

HD picture of the S636 Argonaute Submarine in Parc de la Villette
Another tourist attraction located within the Parc de la Villette, which is also classed as a museum, is a decommissioned submarine first launched in 1958, and if you wish to discover how the French Navy lived and worked on board, you can discover the inside as well as outside of the S636 l'Argonaute Sous-Marin, normally just known as The Argonaute submarine.

There are three different play areas for children within the Parc de la Villette, and this is a photo we took showing the steel sculptured dragon with its 24 metre long slide that is located within the themed garden called the Jardin du Dragon, which is located close to the Galerie de la Villette and the Canal de l'Ourcq.

There are numerous water features dotted all over Paris, and the modern cascading waterfall you can see in this image was taken while we were at the Parc de la Villette, which is located in between the Cite des Sciences museum and the Canal de l'Ourcq that supplies its water.

Photograph of the Philharmonie de Paris concert hall under construction in Parc de la Villette
The towering construction you can see in this picture looming above the tree line and wide open grass expanse, is called the Philharmonie de Paris, which was still under construction when we took this photo in the summer of 2014, yet this has since been finished, and home to the Paris Orchestra, there is a massive concert hall hosting large symphony orchestras and other forms of music events such as jazz, etc.

The Belvedere Folly inside Parc de la Villette
This is a photo we took of yet another one of the unusual red folie structures you can find located within the Parc de la Villette amidst some of the 3000 plus trees, and called the Belvedere Folly with its ramp that is popular with skateboarders, these follies have become known as the hallmarks of the park that was initially started to be developed in the early 1980s.
The Geode cinema and Cite des Sciences et de l'Industrie museum viewed from Allee du Canal
We took this photo while standing on the Allee du Canal towpath of the Canal de l'Ourcq while looking towards The Geode cinema and the Cite des Sciences et de l'Industrie science museum that are both located amidst the green expanses of the vast Parc de la Villette.

The Parc de la Villette was designed to be a place for culture and discovery, and they host themed events at different times throughout the year, just like the nautical theme with a haphazard driftwood style makeshift shelter that you can see at the entrance of the Pavillon Paul Delouvrier located along the Galerie de la Villette opposite the Grande Halle.

This is a panoramic photo of the Parc de la Villette and its Fontaine Aux Lions de Nubie water fountain with the Grande Halle behind it, which as we mentioned earlier, was originally an old cattle market slaughterhouse building constructed in the 1800s that has now become a cultural centre playing host to numerous different events such as fairs and exhibitions.

View of Cite de la Musique at Parc de la Villette
Close to the southern edge of the Parc de la Villette right next to the Philharmonie de Paris you can see the Cite de la Musique, which also holds the Musee de la Musique museum and a cafe, and is now often referred to as Philharmonie 2, yet there is also an underground car park located here, which is convenient if you wish to attend a concert and have your own transport.

Now this last image shows the tourist information board for the Parc de la Villette showing pictures, listing the tourist attractions and some events, which was located in the square by the fountain in between the Cite de la Musique and the Information centre, and this is at the southern end of the park close to the Avenue Jean Jaures and the Port de Pantin Metron Station.
