Positioned on the southern side of the Palais de Chaillot facing the Trocadero Gardens you can see a sign next to an entrance door advising people that the public entrance for the Marine Museum is actually at the Place du Trocadero, with an arrow showing the way round.

Therefore, the entrance to the museums of this wing of the Palais de Chaillot, also known as the Passy Wing, is actually facing a westerly direction, and to give you even more of an idea, the River Seine and Eiffel Tower would be at the bottom of the Jardins du Trocadero behind us as we took this photograph.
