This is a view over the Trocadero Gardens looking in a south easterly direction towards the famous landmark of the Eiffel Tower, which is located on the opposite bank of the River Seine within the Champ de Mars gardens.

However, you will find that the Jardins du Trocadero were actually laid out for the 1878 World Fair in Paris when the original Palais du Trocadero was constructed, even before the Eiffel Tower was built, which was actually for the 1889 World Fair, or Universal Exhibition, as it is also known.
