You will find that the area now covered by the Trocadero Gardens in the 16th Arrondissement of Paris were once quarries, so as you are wandering around you will see remnants of the past, just like in this photo where some of the rocks form part of a wall next to a pathway in the north west corner.

This is actually a view looking in a south easterly direction right near the very top, that is the north west corner of Jardins du Trocadero, with its winding path sloping downwards and passing the Palais de Chaillot towards other areas of this famous garden.
