We were standing along the pathway next to Avenue Hussein 1er de Jordanie within the Trocadero Gardens looking in a south easterly direction towards the most famous landmark in Paris of the Eiffel Tower, and when special events are being held in France they often feature on the icon, such as the ball hanging in the middle of it on this occasion.

However, the Jardins du Trocadero were actually laid out before the Tour Eiffel was even constructed, but being on a hill originally called the Butte de Chaillot, you can get fabulous views from an elevated position, especially from the Palais de Chaillot, which is behind us in this image.
