The Jardins du Trocadero took its name from the area name Trocadero in recognition of the Battle of Trocadero fought in 1823, yet it is positioned on a hill known as the Butte de Chaillot, which is how the Palais de Chaillot got its name when constructed for the 1937 Universal Exhibition in Paris.
