Water features are major part of gardens throughout Paris, many of which were first laid out in the 1800s during the reign of Napoleon III when Baron Haussmann was redesigning the city and incorporating different areas that were once outside the city boundary.

And this is exactly the case with the Jardins du Trocadero that were laid out in an English style with ponds and meandering paths like the one you can see here, which is reminiscent of the time when Napoleon III was in exile in England and visit places such as Hyde Park in London.
