This first HD photo shows the small tree called a Podocarpus Elongatus, which is the botanical name for a Breede River Yellowood, which is a specific type of conifer that as you can tell, grows like a bush and comes from South Africa where it can be found in the Breede river Valley in the Western Cape, and hence its common name.
The Podocarpus Elongatus is normally found growing along rivers and on rocky outcrops and is now a protected species, which does not seem to be found growing naturally in any other country, however, it is often nurtured within botanical gardens that have an orangery as an ornamental tree.
And as you can see here, this particular Breede River Yellowood was positioned just outside the Orangerie in the Luxembourg Gardens, which is located in the north west section of the garden, and this conifer bush is brought outside between the months of May and October for both tourists and locals to admire.
Yet this last photograph shows a close up of the tourist information plaque fixed to the wooden crate, which is made of 4cm thick oak panels, and as you can see it states that Podocarpus Elongatus originated from South Africa and was listed as Pot Number 175.
