This first HD photo shows the Flowering Pomegranate, which has a scientific or botanical name of Punica Granatum Flore Pleno, and this was located below the western terrace of the Luxembourg Gardens in the formal central area.
Now there are actually different types of Pomegranate, which are part of a family called Punicaceae, and many like this one originated from Asia, where according to Asian legend this was known as the tree of life for its fruit, although this particular Pomegranate is an ornamental flowering variety.
And this last photograph shows the tourist information plaque that is positioned on the front of the green wooden crate, which has a reference of Pot No 26, and as you can tell, this is a variety of Pomegranate that has double flowers.
But because the Punica Granatum Flore Pleno loves full sun and a sub tropical climate, this is housed within the Orangerie of the Jardin du Luxembourg during the winter months, yet is brought out into the garden from approximately May through to October for visitors to enjoy.
