Camping Perroquet In Nord-Pas-de-Calais
Camping Perroquet is a large French campsite that is spread over an area of 30 hectares located within a 260 hectare protected area of the dunes in the Nord Pas de Calais region of France close to the ferry crossing route at Dunkerque and exceedingly close to the Belgium border, in fact, the border itself is a matter of metres away from the entrance to this campsite.
This is ideal for a family camping holiday in France with large pitches, many of which that have tall hedges for added privacy and they are suitable for tents, caravans and motorhomes, plus are easily accessible even to large outfits that require more manoeuvrability and you can choose from fully services pitches or ones with just electric. However, if you do opt for a pitch that only has electric, then you will have a reasonable distance to fill your water barrel or empty your waste.
There are separate shower and toilet blocks dotted over the site (three that we noticed), but we would like to point out that the showers are a cost of €1 and will last for approximately 5 minutes, you can obtain the tokens from a vending machine that is on the outside of the reception area.
WiFi Internet access is also available on site completely free of charge to campers, but you do have to obtain log-in details from reception in order to access this and as with many campsites in France, the coverage is not always that good in certain areas of the site.
There are numerous facilities on site that can cater for all ages from having a game of crazy golf on the 18 hole mini golf course, through to tennis, archery and even horse riding excursions, plus there are several childrens playgrounds and adventure playgrounds to keep little ones happy for hours.
Even though there is no swimming pool on site, it is not really a problem as Camping Perroquet has direct access to a beautiful sandy beach where you can relax, yet it is also in an ideal situation for those of you that love water sports from sailing through to windsurfing, plus they run a sailing school with dinghies, catamarans and much more.
But for days when the weather is not so good, you could experience the gym or sauna, enjoy a pizza or a meal at the restaurant, order a takeaway and even fish and chips, perhaps spend some time at the games room, bar or in the library, plus there is also a disco and organised entertainment in high season.
Camping Perroquet has a lot to offer, but to get from one side of this pet friendly family campsite in France to the other is a very long walk, so taking your bikes with you would be a massive advantage, and that way you could also go exploring a little further a-field, perhaps even into Belgium for the day.
